PUBLIC ART TAKES OVER THE QUARTIER
The Quartier des Spectacles invites you to enjoy a unique artistic and sensory experience: KM3. From August 30 to October 15, 2017, more than twenty new works will enliven the Quartier’s façades, squares, parks, sidewalks and windows, encouraging you to see the city as you’ve never seen it before – surprising, dreamlike, reinvented.
KM3 is an art walk through the Quartier des Spectacles, from its most iconic spaces to some of its least known ones. This walk features immersive, interactive, participatory and purely visual works created specifically for Montreal. The artists, both local and foreign, come from a wide range of disciplines: visual arts, sculpture, video games, interactive design, fashion, dance and architecture. They’ve dared to imagine new ways – both for you and with you – to live together in the city as “good neighbours” (the theme for 2017). KM3 offers a new perspective on the urban fabric through today’s most innovative public art.
KM3 is an initiative of the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, and one of the Quebec government’s gifts to Montreal on the occasion of its 375th anniversary. The event is made possible by the financial support of, among others, the government of Quebec and the Ville de Montréal, within the framework of the Entente sur le développement culturel de Montréal.
The artists of KM3 were selected by curators Mouna Andraos and Melissa Mongiat of Daily tous les jours, in collaboration with Julie Bélisle of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and Pascale Daigle of the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership.
